If price is your only concern in choosing an Inspector, I recommend that you contact the Texas Real Estate Commission or TREC at 512-459-6544 and ask them who has recently completed their “fast tract” to Home Inspector licensing and which multi-inspector firm they are working for. TREC has made it easy for anyone with no practical construction background or experience to become a licensed Professional Real Estate Inspector in a very short period of time.
The companies that hire these individuals will likely be willing to do the job at a ridiculously low price. If you want an Inspector that has passed the rigorous membership process of the American Society of Home Inspectors or ASHI, expect to pay for and receive a professional service. You can be guaranteed that ASHI members will not only be experienced in the industry, but also knowledgeable about the many different systems in your home and how they interrelate with one another.
